Jeanie visits Port Jefferson, Long Island
for the Irish Fair - 14th & 15th July, 2003
Jeanie Johnston is the special guest at the Irish Fair

Port Jefferson has broken the attendance record for visitors to the Jeanie Johnston! 3,400 people visited the ship on July 15th. Organizers of the inaugural Port Jefferson Irish Fair estimate that 20,000 people descended on the village to attend the affair and view the Jeanie Johnston. The fair brought huge crowds to Port Jefferson restaurants and taverns well into the night.

The sounds of Irish music from morning to night filled Port Jefferson. Add some dance, an Irish soda bread contest and freely flowing beer it was flowing, but wasn't free and you have the makings of the inaugural Port Jefferson Irish Fair. Organizers have already said they hope to put the fair on again next year, perhaps on a weekend.

A message from the Jeanie Johnston project managers:
To all those who visited us in Port Jefferson and to all who worked so hard on behalf of the 'Jeanie; a big 'Thank you'. Your work paid off and we appreciated it.

All here in the Jeanie Johnston are so pleased we had the opportunity to visit.
